Two Sister's Farm

A Massey Ferguson 35 a 3 cylinder diesel tractor outside the workshop. Another new tractor on trial on the estate in 1958. It is intended for yard work and light carting, certainly not for cultivating the heavy Lincolnshire clay soil. The model is a Universal Hobbies example and is mainly die cast metal with plastic accessories.
The tractors are not glued in place but are moved around as the fancy takes me. This was bought as the colour is a contrast to the mainly blue painted Fordson fleet. I have over the years been surprised by the number of tractor enthusiasts that come to model railway exhibitions.

The Davenport diesel leaves the flat wagon with a load of hay bales outside the barn.





We then see her on another occasion arriving at the yard with a broken engine on a flat wagon for eventual repair in the workshop.



Here we see the loco about to depart with the man standing on the footplate. The figures are converted military people. It was obviously taken in the era before health and safety became an issue. You may remember it, we just used common sense in those days.

Great photos again. Common sense is unfortunately in short supply so it’s replaced with H&S and a myriad of rules to follow!

Your dead right about common sense in the past. I saw lots of nasty things in my GPO days.

Thanks for your interest Mick and WTD, I find many things frustrating these days. My wife says it's because I'm a miserable Old Git,she's probably right though.
We desperately need a minister of Common Sense, but I doubt we will ever get one.
I'm amazed people are still allowed to run steam trains without the interference of H&S.

I think at one time the EU were considering that steam boilers near the public would have to be painted in some garish colour and smothered in warning signs. Thankfully that died a death.
