WEST ORTON
Re: WEST ORTON
Those boxes look really neat. is there enough height in them to have a section of track as well?

I wondered that as well.......no. Just enough headroom for a loco.
Reminds me of a story/urban myth from Sony when they were developing the Walkman. The brief was to leave no clearance around the internal components to make the unit as small as possible. When the engineers showed the first production model to the head man at Sony, he threw the Walkman into a bucket of water, pointed at the bubbles, and said “spaces”.

I understand from the commentary that several back-up launch windows are already prepared. I’ll await an update from you Barry or NASA. R-

Re: WEST ORTON
One of the railway magazines has recently offered a lasercut kit for a large truss bridge which caught my eye as a possible replacement for the rather crude bridge I currently have on the layout. The drawback being that it is too narrow for my requirements.
But, using it as the inspiration, I have found a version for 3D printing that can be adapted in the computer to suit my needs.
This is the trial print of the first few sections - nearly 14 hours to print and a bu@@er to clean up from the supports.

Looks interesting Steve. By the way I like your pipework on the bridge. I have a pipe on my bridge but it needs dividing into shorter lengths. I shall have a go.
Nurse, the screens!

I’m trying to remember how I did it.Walkingthedog wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:56 am Looks interesting Steve. By the way I like your pipework on the bridge. I have a pipe on my bridge but it needs dividing into shorter lengths. I shall have a go.
I know that the brackets are split pins from Halfords and I think I used some Slaters plastic pipe having softened the ends in boiling water before bending to shape in a jig.
