Most odd

Post by footplate1947 »

I notice when one writes a post it appears in new post with tag which says there are no unread posts for this topic when I have just posted it and nobody has written to it. I note that other people have posts which seem to stay there for ages. Most odd when my post seem to go with in short space of time.
I cant even find my last posts without going and looking up my posts. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,John

Your posts can’t be different to anyone elses John. Do you select 'New Posts' when you look at the forum?

I have had a few changes in pass-words and swapped from W7 to W10 (on a flap-top) and am now back on the repaired W7 machine (could not stand all those adverts on W10).

I find that some posts are answered before the question is asked.
The questions are asked a few posts later. This may be due to the preamble I gave above.

I don't know, do other peeps get the same thing?
Jim.

Hi John, I'm finding it a little difficult to follow what you are saying is happening here.

This is the correct behaviour, is it not?

Stay where?

This seems a little contradictory.

Are you able to give an example of the post behaving wrongly?

Anyone suffering adverts on any browser and any web site should install free Adblock software. That is what I have on my Win 10 PC and my W10 laptop too, no ads then seen! These adverts are not generated by the web site but often by Google Ads

As for posts... Each post carries a #number which is located by your user name (This post is #7) It also adds the date and time of posting. The forum software automatically gives each post a new number increasing by one digit as the 'Submit' icon is clicked and the message is correctly uploaded to the forum.. Posts made at say 10:00AM cannot appear later and further down a list with newer post before it. The post will appear as soon as the 'Submit' icon is clicked upon and have its # number, day and time stamp assigned.

When you make an initial post (The first one or a reply to another post) and no one else makes any further posts there are No New Posts so the message is correct. If someone added a comment/post later then the message will reflect this.

No posts are removed unless a moderator acts to remove it because it breaches forum rules. No 'standard' posts are removed automatically or manually!

John, as soon as you open/look at a new post, it no longer becomes new, so it will disappear if you use the new post tab, if you use the quick links tab, and open active topics, it will show all the current threads,e

actually ignore all that, it still shows up, but it did used to do that on the old forum, so thought it would be the same here, might just be a glitch somewhere,
Mike.

Hello Brian, I'd be very interested in getting rid of the adverts on my W10 laptop. I was driven nuts on you-tube and playing solitaire with adverts popping up all over. I do use adblock and another Uorigen or something like that. Both are free to download and free to use (my favourite price).

I was unable to find the tag number allocated to each of the above posts i.e.#7.

I assume from the posts that it is my altering of passwords and machines that brought about the odd situation where a question is proceeded by an answer.

If it is expedient to answer this by PM/email that will be fine.

Hi Jim, post numbers show on the far left hand side of the line below the post title preceded by a # i.e. just above “Hi” in this post (#10).

The way your posts appear might be down to how you have set up how to show your board preferences. They are in your Control Panel which is behind your ID in the top right hand corner of the screen just below the blue banner. Posts can be set to show in ascending order or descending order - that I believe is governed by the time/date stamp.
