How are you getting the extra wires across from the tender to the loco? Not exactly spoilt for space in the loco though.

When I bought the micro LED's some years ago, I also bought some pre-wired micro plugs and sockets - they are a fraction bigger than the Hornby versions on the new speakers. I have fitted the speaker, it sits in a slot just below and behind the chimney, running a pair of wires from the speaker and following the "taped down" wires from the motor to the plug between the loco and tender, I think I can plug and socket the speaker wires below the cab. This will enable the loco to be separated from the tender. I have the decoder and power bank in place, now need to do some careful soldering

A little bit of track maintenance today - replacing the under track magnets in the fiddle yard, with Kadee surface mounted magnets. These appear to work a lot better than the magnets positioned below the sleepers - and you can see them from a few feet away. Luckily very hot water and a probe made light work of getting the old ballast out which was laid some years ago, and then removing the old magnets. The new Kadee magnets come in a couple of sizes (depth) depending on which code track you are using.
There are so many things which you wish you had done during the early construction days Only five tracks to do.

Yes they do Brian - problem is they would always have the end of a coach or wagon blocking the way.

Interesting. I have found under-track magnets to work effectively, at least in N scale. May I ask what strength of magnets that you used?

Sorry James - not sure I can remember, but looking on ebay (where I originally bought them from), looking today, I think they were 25x8x2 mm N52 grade neodymium block small thin rectangle magnets.
One of the problems with the fiddle yard magnets, was being able to see them from my control desk, especially when there was other stock in the fiddle yard. By the time I reinstate the ballast etc, these Kadee magnets should be fairly inconspicuous. The other advantage is that these magnets are a little longer than those currently fitted, so allows a little more "back and forth" movement when uncoupling.
