Re: My new toy
Petrol. Scotland is not the best place to find charging points. I would wait until battery ect gets bit longer range before I would consider electric car. Plenty charging points on motor ways. Not many motorways in Scotland.

I agree, depending on your typical journey range can be an important factor between choosing electric, petrol/diesel or hybrid.
For me, electric is a no-go. I don't like the idea of having to find a place to charge the car when on holiday - which is very often - although for local journeys it would be fine.
Hybrid seems a cop out. Many seem to only use the electric when around town (for pollution control) and I do very little town driving. So again, a no-go for me.
Electric admirably suits one of my friends who only does shopping runs and about 2400 miles in a year. I do around 17 000 or more (or did pre-COVID) so would spend a lot of time looking for working charging stations.

Yup, I am an auto box man, both Volvo and Peugeot are, as was Discovery and Mazda, before them.
Re: My new toy
I was never a fan of auto's until my wife got a new mini a couple of months back which is a duel clutch auto and now I'm totally sold on them. My next car will check be an automatic. As regards to electric cars, I think we are going the wrong way. I think the way to go would be bio fuels. These are available just need investment by the government to up scale production. Long term this would be cheaper and no need to buy expensive electric car with limited range .
Just my opinion.
