I think EVs will fall flat on their face due to poor resale residuals and current battery technology. Once they crack the ‘everlasting’ battery they will be a goer, but not at the premium pricing they are at present. A 5-minute replaceable battery at an automated service station means you never have to worry about battery values as they are someone else's problem, just like today’s fuel supply is.
Have you spotted how every advert has an EV promotion in it nowadays. The Admiral insurance ad with the tree falling on the house now shows a cable plugged into an EV on the drive. Subliminal advertising encouraged by a tax them to death government.

I think battery only EV is just a stepping stone. I think the real future is in fuelcell and Hydrogen, either in a hybrid fuel / electric or IC engine.

Must not get too political, but I watched an interview with Lord Bamford of JCB (diggers etc) who are developing hydrogen powered equipment (it's well advanced), and he stated that the Government had absolutely no interest in hydrogen - the future is EV and nothing else!!

A fuel cell topped up with tap water, split it into hydrogen to run the car and house and oxygen to breath before they start taxing that as well.
