OO/HO RTR Trams: advice please.

#1

Post by Chops »

I've much enjoyed using the Dapol DMU for automatic point to point service upon Henley, but would like to graduate to a tram. Would anyone have a particular brand or type of tram ready to run in OO/HO? I am seeking a durable unit that has, if possible, a high gear ratio for smooth slow running. I have some idea what's out there in the North American Range, but not a clue as to British offerings, if any. No particular style or road name in mind.

HiChops, I quickly googled Oo gauge trams and all I could find were kits, nothing RTR. Others may have some alternatives though.

Thank you for that, it does confirm my suspicion that pickings were slim to nonexistent. I'd thought there would be more demand than there is, for the modeler who must use space economically. Maybe I can find an Asian or Continental example and repaint it to more closely resemble a British unit.

Well this has some promise, particularly as I wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel.

KW Trams is another supplier. I have bought from him no worries. http://www.kwtrams.co.uk/products
I converted a die cast Atlas static tram using his motor bogies and have a Towerkits tram and motorising kit on the shelf awaiting build. I run the Atlas tram between a station and the town using a DC shuttle alongside my DCC train layout for added interest.
