I retired in 2006, I was extremely young. I had a layout in the loft but had wanted to move it downstairs. It was either hot or cold in the loft and not ideal for just popping in to have a a quick play.
One of my sons used the small bedroom, and when he moved out he had just shut the front door and his pine bed was dismantled and screwed to the wall as part of the new layout frame.
The room is 8X8 feet and the layout is around the walls with a lift out section, for when I can’t crawl underneath, and a big hole in the middle.
It is steam and early diesel 1950's 60's with any loco of that period that I like. Two circuits with goods sidings, engine sheds and a turntable. No station, I only run goods trains. It is DC with a 4 track Gaugemaster controller. I can control each loop, the sheds and the good siding separately. So 4 locos at time, well it would be if I had and extra hand. So two going round and round whilst I do a bit of shunting or turntabling.
Hopefully some pictures to follow.

Yes it has a grubby look, and do you know why, it is grubby.
