Newbie reporting in
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to model trains.
We visited Model World Live at the NEC last weekend and now we're keen to design and build our first layout!
Been building and flying model planes for years so this seems like the perfect winter hobby for when its too cold to go outside and stand in a field!

Hi shed16 and welcome to the forum.
This is the place to ask questions and gain answers before you commit to spending large sums of money on your model railway
We look forward to reading more from you.

Hi shed 16 - Welcome to the forum. I used to fly R/C aircraft many years ago - I still have a Dave Boddington bi-plane kit in my loft along with a Complete-a-Pac De Havilland Mosquito kit - those were the days . This is a great forum. BB

On a school trip to Salisbury Hall in 1959 the prototype W4050 was in a hangar next to the Hall. In those days there was not the restrictions that abound today. So I can say I sat in the pilots seat and operated the controls (ailerons, elevators and rudder) of the prototype. I recall we visited Salisbury Hall as there was silk-worm farm there?

Did you know that the hall was owned by Sir Nigel Gresley. Handed it over to the government in the war.
Nurse, the screens!

I didn't, but I do know the guy who bought it about 10 years ago was a problem.
He bought the place which is next to a microlight club, two model aircraft fields, the Mosquito museum AND the M25. Then proceeds to complain to everyone about noise and tries to get us closed down. Fortunately for us he's no longer with us!
