Solenoid point motors should be operated by momentary switches.and a CDU powered from the 16vAC supply.
"Not very stable, but incredibly versatile." ;)

A CDU isn't essential but is highly recommended to ensure reliable operation and prevent the motor (solenoids) from burning out in case of faulty point switches. 16 to 20 volts ac can be used but don't exceed the voltage rating of the CDU.
