Gaugemaster warranty
Gaugemaster warranty
Please can someone clarify the warranty offered by Gaugemaster.
I am led to believe after reading many forums that there is a lifetime guarantee on ALL their products, however this is not clear!
One of my 3 PA2 controllers has a failing rotor whereby the speed step scrolling using the knob in either up / down is inconsistent. The +/- buttons work fine it's just the speed control knob.
On approaching Gaugemaster I got this response
The unit itself has a 2 year's warranty from date of original purchase and any repairs carried will require proof of purchase to back this up.
So it's not a lifetime warranty judging by their response.
Any comments would be helpful.
Many thanks

Re: Gaugemaster warranty
Only the products that they make themselves have a lifetime guarantee. The PA2 is a rebadged MRC product, so is excluded from the lifetime guarantee.

Re: Gaugemaster warranty
I had the same problem with my out of warranty handset. Gaugemaster could/would not supply the part which I believe is different in later models. However the 4 pin rotary encoder is hard to obtain locally but is available from AliExpress and was easy to replace. Only difference is it is not indented and I don't think they are on new Prodigy handsets either.
Search for 141 type 4 pin encoder.

Would if I could dtb. Just something I know from somewhere.

Re: Gaugemaster warranty
Some years ago I had a problem with my Prodigy. I contacted Gaugemaster who said they would have a look and send me an invoice for repair as their warranty didn't extend to those units.
As it happened they repaired it at no cost other than postage.
Give them a call and see what they say.

Re: Gaugemaster warranty
Thanks Steve, they said parts are no longer available. I will look into the suggestion by 'goingdownslow' using compatible parts of Aliexpress as they are quite a cheap part.Steve M wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 9:33 am Some years ago I had a problem with my Prodigy.
