One of those weeks.
One of those weeks.
They say things come in threes.
Yesterday a brand new loco mangled a pickup, then the fuel pipe on the hedge trimmer split. Today my backup hard drive failed.
I fear this run is not over yet.

The old back up HDD failure. I have had 3 of these fail over the years and the HDD they are/were backing up is still going strong. No doubt having just moved house and all PCs have lain idle for months none of them will crank up when required.

Re: One of those weeks.
I would love to - not slept well for a while now so I'm absolutely knackered.
To cap it all, yesterday we had an early lunch as the memsahib was out with our daughter. I had calculated that I would get a decent hour and a half afternoon nap before going to work.
15 mins into nap time, she woke me up to remind me to wake up in time for work.
I did not go back to sleep.
When I got home, I switched off my phone and went straight to bed and apart from 5 mins to let the dog out I slept for nine hours straight.
Trouble is I missed a call from the alarm company about work - that will not go down well.

Update on the external hard drive - it's recoverable at a cost that starts at £500.
Fortunately the majority of the photos were in a secondary backup drive so I've started the job of backing up the backup onto SSDs rather than HDDs.
The downside of this is that now know which photos are lost - all my airshows and music concerts. I may have some of them on CD and Facebook but that search is for another day.
C'est la vie.

Steve, do you not also use the cloud. I run so much space per month, just in case.

I have a totally irrational dislike and distrust of anything that use the phrase 'the cloud'.
Putting all my 'stuff' under a 3rd party's control and subject to their whims for pricing feels wrong somehow.
