Hi everybody
Hi everybody
Hi, I've joined the forum hoping to get some advice on selling a deceased friends OO layout for his widow.
So far I have emailed details and pictures/video to about 16 fairly local Model Railway Societys with mixed results. 10 of them haven't acknowledged my email. Four of the others have directed me towards dealers. One dealer has answered and offered her what we consider a fair offer for the locos, rolling stock and a large amount of diecast vehicles, but they don't want the layout.
I realise I can't put anything for sale on this forum until I have made 10 posts so at the moment I am just looking for advice as to where I could advertise the layout along with buildings, about 33 locos, carriages and goods wagons.
thank you.

Re: Hi everybody
Gumtree, Ebay, 2 possibilities. problem is , no one wants someone elses layout, other than to strip for bits. Gumtree prob your best bet. It wont sell as a layout on here, i dont think, even after 10 posts.

Hi
Buildings, Locos, Carriages, Wagons and Controllers etc can be sold to specialist second hand retailers, but they won't offer you that much, but usually they will take it all. I would suggest you obtain a current issue of a Model Railway magazine (Hornby, Railway Modeller, Model Rail or BRM are the four main magazines in the UK) and look in their pages for the adverts. You will find at least four and possibly more second-hand buyers.
You can look on ebay and see what similar items are selling or have sold for and then list yours at a similar price yourself.
As for the layout, you will be very lucky if you find a purchaser! You could try a local to you Model Railway Club and see if they or one of their members would like it. Usually they are given away minus any stock and controllers etc which of course have a good second-hand value.
You can locate a club from this web site https://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/clubs.html
Good luck.

Re: Hi everybody
We have sold the locos and rolling stock to a local dealer. I'm going to try the layout and accessories on eBay - we realise there's not much chance of a sale though. While going through the accessories I've come across an item I don't recognise - pic attached, any ideas please. I think it has Jouef imprinted in the plastic on reverse.
Re: Hi everybody
Can't think of any other use. Layout does have a lever frame for most of the points already in use. He did have another 10 assorted spare points which I presume he was going to use for sidings etc. Perhaps the pictured item was intended for those.

Trying to remember which make came out with things like this. Was it Fleishmann or one of the other German or European manufacturers?
