Dapol Deltic Diesel Kit

Post by 508035 »

Hi Everyone

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to show of the locomotive at this point in time, however, last night I managed to assemble the locomotive in about an hour.

The chassis has not been permanently attached to the body as I want to power it up and run it even though the real DP1 locomotive has not run for roughly 60 years ( not sure of the exact length of time since it last ran on the rails ).

I have been trawling through ebay to find either a Bachmann ( most preferred option ), Hornby or Lima deltic chassis in order to fit the body in place and have a fully operational DP1 locomotive. The huge brick wall I ran into is that it's either full complete locomotives or the chassis ( completely reduced to a kit of parts ) that I am able to find and I would rather not have to purchase all the individual parts for a chassis to make the loco fully operational.

If anybody has any ideas for the best way to motorise the dapol dp1 I would certainly welcome all suggestions and many thanks in advance for any replies given.

Mine has the Hornby railroad type chassis. I also fitted windows but they were a pig to get right. I can't remember which after-market source they came from.

Excellent news, thank you for that.

I have lately managed to source an unpowered bogie for the loco, however, finding a complete motor bogie for the class 55 either hornby or lima has become a virtual impossibility as nowhere seems to have 1 available, even on ebay.
