Peco Unifrog sizes

#1

Post by shed16 »

I planned a layout which uses a fairly standard right hand medium radius turnout in Code 100, Peco SL-E95, but I'd like to use Unifrogs instead.

I can see that Unifrogs have been around for a while now so i'm wondering if there is a good reason there isn't an equivalent SL-U95? I can see lots of unifrogs in other codes and scales but why not a straight forward medium radius turnout, surely these are fairly commonly used or am I way off?

If I do use electro frog, can I use them without a juicer before I get around to installing point motors to juice them?

I suspect Peco just haven't got around to that one yet.
The points will work straight from the box but any retrofitting of motors and wiring will be problematic if the track cannot be lifted. Probably best to do that prep work at the outset.

Thanks, I was thinking that last night too, point motors when laying track it is and I'll have to stick with Electrofrogs, knowing my luck, they'll bring them out the day after I order all the turnouts!
