Hard wired or plug and play? And where would I hide the decoder? :?

I’m sure we can find somewhere for the decoder. Speaker might not be easy.

One feature of the Hornby HMDCC system is the ability to load photos of your own locos into the app to aid loco selection and control.
Many will just snap a loco on the layout, but I find those images a bit cluttered for use in an index.
Instead, I prefer a plain background so I've built a light stage using offcuts and spare odds and ends.

I like that plain background Steve. Think I might make something to stand behind my stock.

Never mind the background, just look at that magnificent beast, and a Doncaster race horse to boot.

Steam.
I'd rather thought this a non-smoking forum!

Very nice photographic aid.
I must admit I usually search the internet and find a pic of the model with a plain background for HM7K equipped locos.

That looks very good - nice and tidy. I have always used the HM7000 App to take a picture of a loco, making sure it (the loco) fills most of the frame.

As you can see, I prefer to take a separate image, stored on the phone, which I then import to HM7000. I mentioned it earlier, but the plain background makes it easier to 'read' the listing on the app, while the original pictures form a useful record should they be needed for insurance purposes.
