A day out the other day for the memsahib's birthday included a quick visit to Hornby after her birthday lunch.
The result was the addition of another BR standard, 6MT Clan Macdonald.
I found it on the bargain shelf, so I fully expected to find some issues. Not disappointed as it had clearly been dropped - cracked smoke deflectors, slightly bent valve gear, missing drawbar screw.
A couple of days of attention and it's a nice runner and less than half price.

Obviously a good deal - despite a little work. A colleague recently picked up a late model Merchant Navy Class at a local toy fair/swap meet for £60.00 - labelled as a "Non-runner" - he has yet to find any problems with it - he thinks the seller put the wrong label on the loco.

I'm pleased with it. I now have both of the recent Clans.
A little disappointed that they had not labelled any of the faults - I've let Sam at customer services know for future reference.
I may try to find replacement smoke deflectors and possibly rename it at some point.

Should be able to get some etched brass reflectors. Phoenix Paints make them for the Britannia, might be the same ish.
