Hi,Bought a conversion kit with motor gear heat shrink etc.
The gear fits the cd motor perfectly but will not fit the gears
Is there a different cog/gear for different locos
I want to convert a Lima railcar

I fitted a couple and seem to remember ordering a kit to fit a particular loco. It isn’t one kit fits all.

Can you fit the cog from the old motor to the new one?

I've fitted quite a few of these to different locos. The CD motor spindle varies as does the thickness of the spindle and the body. The differences are usually identified on the selling sites by original production company (Hornby, Lima) as well as type of wheel configuration (BO-BO, CO-CO). They usually fit although sometimes the cog supplied needed to be replaced by the original. Wherever possible I use the original when I can.

After struggling to fit a cd type motor I found the reason it wouldn’t fit was the cog with the small hexagonal screw that drives the wheel was split.it’s for a Lima ringfield Bo-Bo type
If anyone has any spares I would pay whatever it is plus postage.Failing that if someone could tell me the proper name for said cog I would order on online
Thanks spo

I'm trying to upgrade several Lima South African Railways 5E class electric locos. Apart from replacing the pancake motor, I also want to replace the existing wheels with closer to scale. I use code 83 track and the flanges hit the fishplates. Also the South African Railways electric locos have spoked wheels. I have a 3D printer, so can 3d print the gears in the upgrade, but I don't know the specifications of the gear on the axle. I'm hoping that all Lima BO-BO locos used the same gear Can anybody help?
