My name is Tony (aka The Ghan) and I have been modelling for about 15 years beinning with HO scale and transitioning to N Scale so I coul drun longer trains and have more detailed scenery etc.

I don't go in for "rivet counting" or prototypical layouts as I find them too restrictive. Instead I build "fictional layouts" where anything goes with the aim of achieving one thing - to have fun and enjoy the hobby the way I want to enjoy it. As such, I run both modern deisels and steam with a variety of road names and have a preference fr passenger trains, especially steam drawn ones :)

Anyway, while I enjoy the hobby over all, I have a preference for scenery and trying to make my scenery, which includes towns/structures etc, as realistic or as believable as possible. Because I don't model prototype, my layouts tend to be a mix of American, Australian and British in feel running primarily US trains on Peco Code 80 Streamline Track. So, I hoe I weill fit in here and maybe be able to pass on some help to some but also to pick up a ew things from you guys as well.

The one thing I don't do is take our hobby to seriouosly, I believe in having some fun along the way so I hope you'll excuse my sense of humor :)

Welcome Ghan (Tony). This is an excellent forum with lots of knowledge and humour. I agree with you, a hobby should be fun not a task. We do like lots of pictures.

Welcome - I agree it should be fun. I'm sure you'll fit in here and remember no question is a silly question unless it goes unasked!
