Back to railways after a short Lego interlude. Popped down to Margate on Friday for the latest clearance sale at the WonderWorks.
Picked up a rebuilt W1 in BR green. The electrical conduit that runs the length of the running plate had fallen off in the box - simple but relatively fiddly fix. Reduced to less than half price with the club discount. Used my reward points from pre-orders to pay for a decoder and a couple of stay alives. Paid cash for a rather nice sausage roll from their cafe.

Nice loco - you must now, almost, have loco's from all regions?

Nah, the collection is focussed on northern locos. Although I do have a handful of GWR and SR locos before I realised the error of my ways. They now live in the bottom drawers of the storage cabinet - let's just say there's no danger that the paint will fade in the sunlight.
When (if) I scale back, they will be the first to go.

I picked up this one at Ally Pally last month, and yes it has taken me that long to get it running.

It's a Stanier 4P but from the first Hornby release of 2008(ish). Although it is new old stock, it inevitably had a split transfer gear, and spares for those are nonexistent. Ended up with a 3D printed version from Fleabay which seems to work.

Fitted a new sound decoder which promptly failed and managed to break the plastic slide bar bracket on the valve gear (also not available as a spare).

It's taken a while but a new decoder and a touch of glue it seems to be OK now.

One reason for the delay is this kit of parts sitting in the garage waiting for reassembly once a few more spares arrive.

Deconstructed driveshaft and hub for a Triumph Spitfire. Just waiting for a couple more spare parts to arrive and I can start reassembly.

In other news, Hornby have located the last known set of transfer gears for the 4P and they will soon be mine.

You just have spare parts arriving with every post It will be nice to get the Spitfire up and running for the summer. Pleased to hear that Hornby found the parts you needed for the 4P.
