Re: Arc welding simulator
Thanks. Anyone built one themselves? Probably cheaper to buy a kit or ready made but could be fun.
Re: Arc welding simulator
I made one years ago using a NE556 and a NE555 ICs. However, today PICs take their place and can be programmed easily. MERG offers a Pocket Money Project kit PMP No 8 for £2.06 but only to members.
Here's a link to my home built NE555 one... https://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/Electri ... Bookmark14 Scroll down a bit to the project

Re: Arc welding simulator
kit built ones are probably not that easy, to get a random flicker will need a chip rather than just using an RC circuit for a timed flicker so how much building you are doing is maybe limited.
ebay is a good source of cheap parts here is one from the mentioned above seller
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Simulated-Ar ... :rk:2:pf:0
there are a few places in the UK that are reselling cheap imported things for a mark up
the two asect ground signal here: https://www.layouts4u.net/oosignals.html
is the same as :https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-pcs-HO-OO- ... 0641183789
but instead of 5 for £15 its 1 for £7.50 its even the same picture used.
just depends on how long you want to wait and how many you need.

Re: Arc welding simulator
I have one on my layout, it is a ready built module from either Train-Tech or Layouts4U. Works fine, very effective at night.
Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as an electrician
Re: Arc welding simulator
Here is one you can build yourself plus other projects. I have built it and it works well.

Re: Arc welding simulator
Normally I would build this sort of thing myself but have to admit that the new train-tech one (the little square one) is very effective and easy to hide.
