Hello
Hello
Afternoon all. I have browsed the forum on a couple of occasions and now I thought I would like to become a member. I model in oo gauge and I only collect and run GWR locos and wagons. My era is around the 1960s.
I hope to gain more knowledge about railway modelling by becoming a member.

Re: Hello
Hello and welcome. I used to be a GWR modeller. Quite an exciting company to model. If you choose a certain fixed time period to model be aware that the GWR did have a few changes regarding the monogram and lettering over the years. One can always tell with a picture of a GWR locomotive if the photograph was taken in GWR days or BR days as the locos number was always painted on tne bufferbeam in yellow in GWR days, and in BR days a black numberplate with white numbers was fixed to the smokebox door. I have two origional GWR maps (One in a frame. If you have one dont mount them in a picture frame as the light fades them). I also have a map which dates from the days just after the GWR took over the main line in South Wales from the South Wales Railway Company which is fascinating.
