Re: Little Weldon
Fanx for the pix, Dublo. Sorry, I can't quite see through the magic you've worked here but if your layout works OK, then OK. As I say, I don't set up the Dublo track often and I don't have room on the dining table for such a wide loop anyway. Handsome is as handsome does.

Re: Little Weldon
Your offer of a "parts list" for your platform loop line is most kind, Dublo, but I hate to put you to such trouble. If you do have a moment to publish this info, though, I'd be most grateful and I'm sure other members would also be interested.
Cheers,

Re: Little Weldon
Hello all
Below is a listing of how I created the main and loop lines through Weldon station.
Starting with the two main lines.
Up line =
RH point, 1x 0.5 straight, 4 x full straight, 1 x uncoupling ramp, LH point, LH diamond crossing, LH point.
Down line =
RH point, RH diamond crossing, 1 x uncoupling ramp, 4 x full straight, LH point, LH diamond crossing, LH point.
Up loop =
0.5 straight, 0.5 curve, 0.8 straight, 3 x full straight, RH point, 0.5 straight.
Down loop =
full straight, 0.5 straight, 2 x RH point, 0.25 straight, full terminal straight, LH point, 0.5 curve, 0.5 straight, full straight.
Connection between loops 0.5 straight.
All points are isolating.
The inclusion of the terminal rail allows me to use either the yard controller or the down mainline controller to operate this as it also douples up as the yard headshunt.
I hope that this makes sense.

Well done Dublo, that looks a great layout your building.
I too am a fan of Hornby Dublo, though I've now sold off all my 3-rail track and stock. I've still kept my 2-rail stock which even though made 60 years ago, still runs just fine on my layout which uses code 100 track.

Hello all
Thank you for your kind words gentlemen, they are very encouraging. I have finally decided on how to develop the Locomotive Yard. All the track is up and ballasting has started. The layout as a whole currently looks as if the proverbial bomb has hit it. Hopefully this will not last long. Will post some pictures when there is something worth looking at.

Re: Little Weldon
Fanx for the track plan info and pix, Dublo. I'll have to break out the 3-rail and set up some track as you describe. I've clearly overlooked something.

Re: Little Weldon
Hello all
Work is progressing slowly on the Locomotive yard. The Turntable approach road and several of the sidings are now ballasted, these need to be suitably distressed. I cannot squeeze in a loco shed at the moment. So the HD shed will remain at Weldon North and become the Diesel stabling point. I shall also use the Superquick Coaling Stage and Ash Plant, these will be sited at the rear of the yard as they dominate the scene and obscure the engines. To do this I have added two dummy sidings radiating out from the turntable. I didn't want to butcher the turntable to add more HD rails, so have used a few pieces of Triang series 3. These will be suitably disguised with over spill Ash and Coal. I am assembling the Metcalfe Water Tower and Sand drying building to tie the yard into the rest of the layout.

Hello all
Work is continuing on Weldon locomotive yard. The rest of the coal over spill has now been glued down. On the road that passes under the Coaling Stage I have removed the centre rail and cut clear plastic infills on which coal dust has been glued to. The centre rail has then been replaced. The Metcalfe Water Tower has now been constructed and I have started the Sand Dryer the chimney of this structure will add some height to another area of the yard. Whilst rummaging through my card and paper stash I found a side, an end and two unused roofs from the Superquick engine shed. These are going to form the basis of my 3/4 relief shed.
