Current project i'm working on - Severn Models etched brass buildings for a diorama.
Stables, workshop, storage shed to be placed near the wagon sidings. The stables are for the shunting horses which are currently being painted.

Magnificent spread, and tightly focused on time and place- in itself a remarkable challenge. The scene of the roadster commingling with the sheep appears straight out of "Remains of the Day."

I managed do a small amount of modelling over the weekend, mainly finishing off a few vans i'm building (CCT's, Fish and 12T van) and priming them ready for painting. I also 3-linked a few coal wagons, loaded them and applied a bit of weathering.
The horses from Dart Castings are primed and ready for painting and then I can place the Severn model buildings in a scene.

Ref the roadster/sheep scene. Family holidays were often spent in a caravan staying on farm sites all over the country. Whenever we were up North, or in Wales we would often be conftronted by sheep in the road and I thought it would make an ideal scene in a 1930's layout especially when vehicles were very few and far between and the sheep were being walked to the markets.

Wonderful lay out which defies convention with wide base boards. How do you manage to reach across to get to the back of it to service things.

The main front board is 5 feet wide. I then have a 2ft access hole where I can pop up in and access the other side of the board. The 6 storage roads are hidden under the hillside which hinges up in sections and the row of cottages, barn and garage are all seperate lift out sections so I can climb onto the board and access the far corner.
One picture shows the access area being filled in with 2 removable sections. The right section is a wood frame with grassmat stretched over so I can lift it out from underneath. The left panel hinges up against the wagon sidings (front path section lifts out)
The other pictures show the hillsides and removable sections.
If I remember, I will take pics showing the sections lifted up.
I can access all of the front track to clean from the control area. Pop up in the middle and I can access the hidden sidings, wagon sidings. Hinge up the hillsides and I can access under the tunnel entrances. Full strip down is rarely needed as I can reach all of the track from the front of the layout or via the access area.
