My sister got rid of her land line when she moved into her little bungalow. Just uses her mobile. Quite good really because she only told those she wanted to hear from her new number.

Don’t be silly it doesn’t have a coin slot, it’s one of these.

He’s lost the handle so can’t block calls.

Not quite that old Brian it's 1950s in red. I found it in an old cuboard when we were clearing out some rubish in the atic at the fire station.
Hence red phone. Must have been an old one from the Watch Room Do you know when the Brigade cantrallised controle and fire calls came in over the computer and everything was printed out automaticly instead of picking up the red phone and writing it all down . Which was how it was done. It took us 35 seconds longer waiting fpr the address to print to get a Machine on the road. Thats progress for you..............

Well isn't that what we always did with our ordinary phones . It is computers taking over the phones that has changed everything.

No, once somebody had your number that was it, you couldn’t block calls. If you wanted to stop people calling you, you had to change your number. Computers have made call blocking and number recognition much easier, just need to use a modern phone. Computers aren’t always the devil in disguise you know. You wouldn’t be on here now without them.

Yes I know that Brian, I am having bit of fun with the subject........... But I do question the reason BT gives saying they cannot stop all the scam calls we get from India or people who have indian accents claiming they are from BT saying our internet connection is going to be cut off must press 4 to coniue. I am not even using BT internet.

You can only block a call if it has a number. If I get a call with a witheld number and block it, it will block all witheld numbers which is not good. If somebody from India says they are cutting off your BT internet you just hang up, that’s all you can do if the caller doesn’t have a recognisable number. If they do have a number you can block it with a call blocker. If you don’t have BT internet they are hardly going to ring you to say they are cutting it off.

This is ours.

So why did BT tell me they cant do anything because it is international number. Either you have it wrong or BT are telling me lies. And that would not surprise me. I even gave them the number but they could have looked it up if they wanted because if I had the number then so must they. They refused to help giving me number of the preerence service . We have been getting theses call ever since we moved into this new address last October.
