Re: What good deals have you seen on mobile phones
Most international calls just say International on the caller display, that’s what it says when my mate in Oz rings. Sometimes it does display a number but it isn’t one you could ring. These people are very clever at disguising there numbers. I recently had one with a Wycombe code but it was India. I really don’t think BT are telling you lies, why would they.

If you are with BT you can block the last number that called you by dialling 1572 and follow the instructions. Note that this ONLY works if the caller came through with a recognisable number, not number witheld or international. Ive blocked about 30-40 nuisance callers this way so far.

Re: What good deals have you seen on mobile phones
The problem with re-assigning phone numbers is what happened to us. When we moved here 5 years ago BT in their wisdom gave us a number that had previously been allocated to someone who never lived here but must have been on every shared user list going. Nearly every day and sometimes multiple times a day we were getting calls asking for a Mr. Johnson. BT showed no interest in our problem. Despite our polite requests to callers to remove our name the calls continued, I got one only last week! Since BT introduced the 1572 call blocker I mentioned earlier the calls have reduced considerably and now less of an irritant. I plan to move away from BT when my current contract ends in a few months, not because of their service but rather their prices which are nearly double some competitors.

Morning Terry BT these days domt have any interest in customers at all these days. We changed to EE only to my dismay to find BT bought EE out and it is now one of the group. EE for the time being runs independently so I am told but how long before it is absrrbed into BT and vanishes like company names do until they become useful for some promotion or other. Customers who are they. When we tried to set up optical broardband last year at our other house they lost our order 3 times promisted to get things going several times and when we asked about progress found that nothing had been started and worse there wae not even an order raised twice and they did not even knoe our names. One time we were told we were not BT customers ans Ihave been a BT customer since 1972. BT<<<<<<< NOT WORTH THE PAPER THEY ARE PRINTED O any more.

I got a feeling some mobile companies are a bit ahead of landlines. I have a fellow from Germany lodging with me & if he calls me from his home with his mobile I get Germany come up on my home & mobile phone, but no number.

Gosh John you appear to have trouble with everything you deal with. Can’t find a tradesman, plasterer left more on the floor, BT let you down........etc.

Must be something regular with BT!footplate1947 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 2:17 am When we tried to set up optical broardband last year at our other house they lost our order 3 times promised to get things going several times and when we asked about progress found that nothing had been started
Same for me just recently, on 2 occasions the order for the fibre broadband I ordered on the phone was not 'placed to their system' in their words.
Along with the contract there was an offer of a free 'fitbit' which they dismissed as only being available for orders placed online!
After a few calls they must have thought me as being stupid, even though it was agreed n the conversation at the time of placing the order.
Got my sister who is a top boss at BT to kick someone's behind! After tracing the original phone conversation they had to send me my prize which arrived last week.

No, you got it wrong Brian you have to realise the remote places we were living. Different in your part of the world. Believe me when you move somewhere like the Brecon beacons it was like going back in time 150 years or more.Walkingthedog wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 8:11 am Gosh John you appear to have trouble with everything you deal with.
