Re: What good deals have you seen on mobile phones
Brian BT lets every body down these days read some of the other posts about them they have become a night mare. I have seen this before in comerse, when companies become so large they become unable to administrait them selves and they eventually fail and go bust. Think about all the every day names which have fallen on the way side over the years. Massive Companies who sudenly failed.

Guess I’ve been lucky then, have perfect service with no problems. My son has just joined them in his new house. Engineer called round dead on time and got broadband woking in 20 minutes.

I don't think its a case of luck or not. The issue that John (Footplate) is raising is a valid one. BT has just got too big and like all companies that get so large is their general inability to keep a grip of what is happening to the end users. Its the same story with energy, banks and IT companies, all of which I have had poor customer services issues with in the past. Of course many people like yourself Brian have had good service from these companies but the problem lies in how quickly those companies deal with real issues when they affect others, and Im afraid BT has been proven to be one of the worst in this respect with their initial approach in such matters. I have found that once you get pass the lower orders in Customer Services and raise your issue to a formal complaint you start to get somewhere.Walkingthedog wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 11:25 am Guess I’ve been lucky then, have perfect service with no problems. Fair enough. In that case I haven’t been lucky. You’ve been unlucky.

Brian............. I think it also has a lot to do with the North South divide something which folks from down south have no idea.

I'm not sure where Norfolk lies in the North/South divide John but I think the notion of one is a fallacy, we get problems down here too matefootplate1947 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 2:50 pm Brian............. The problem you have with BT/Openreach is they have the vast majority of the UK infrastructure. I think when mobile communications get more reliable & faster, we won't need BT nearly as much as it will all be via the airwaves as much of it is now. You will still need a cable infrastructure for some things, but not nearly as much.

Re: What good deals have you seen on mobile phones
I was told by an open reach engineer (open reach I was told is not part of BT they had to remove BT from their vans)
When we lived in Cumbria an open reach engineer was trying to sort out our crawling internet speed in our house and he told us that they had been complaining about the out dated loco exchange for years but it seems (he said) that BT just are not prepared to spend the money because we lived in a sparsely populated area. So we don't all get the same service do we. Dont get the same service in the country as you do in the sprawling suburbs. But I still prefer to live in the country where the only people we see are next door and the farmers in their tractors who wave a shout how are you as they go by. In the towns hardly any body bother to look up let alone say hello how are you and expect to have a chat.

Re: What good deals have you seen on mobile phones
Funny you should say that. Open Reach engineers consider themselves to be one step up from "ordinary" BT engineers so like to say they are nothing to do with BT any more. There are still some strings attached.
They work on BT cables in BT cabinets.
