Hi all,
I'm just getting back into the hobby after 20 years. I still have my dad's old loco's from the 1970s, including 'Oliver Cromwell', my favourite loco when I was a kid, mainly due to it producing steam. Do new locos like this still exist? I've had a look around but not too sure what to search for!
Many thanks,
HM

Re: Hello!
Thanks for the advice Brian. I think what I'm referring to is 'live steam', a loco puffing around the track. It doesn't appear that anyone makes these anymore and it's more of a DIY job.

Re: Hello!
Hi. You may be referring to the Triang/Hornby locos with smoke oil generators. Only a few had them. The Pannier tank comes to mind (It was an option so most sold didn't have them).
Elaines Trains is a specialist Triang dealer. She also sells just about everything else. Type in "Elaines Trains" into a search engine and see what she has. She gives very good descriptions and photographs so one normally gets a good idea of the locos condition before sale.

Re: Hello!
Smoke generators can be a bit messy, they tend to leave an oily film and the heat can damage the plastic. The older ones really needed to be used at all times when the loco was running. To me they are not very realistic although I did think they were good when I was a LOT younger.
