I have converted several coaches using IKEA led strips at the cost of a tenner for three coaches but gaining a ‘free’ 12v psu to use for powering station lighting.
In my drawer is a roll of 50 leds gleaned from a Lidl sale also for a tenner which will do the rest of my coaching stock. I shall add a redundant decoder(from early days of my DCC) hidden in the toilet compartment of each coach for control.
Those folk who may not have soldering skills, a box full of components, etc are likely to be drawn to the more expensive RTR lighting kits.
