SCARM v Anyrail
Re: SCARM v Anyrail
Hi
I find Anyrail easier than SCARM and both are quite expensive for what they are, although both offer some free usage.
SCARM has much more functionality but I can't get to grips with it, but then again I can't get the hang of JMRI either so its probably just me and my Alzheimers and Vascular Dementia I have just been diagnosed with still every cloud etc, I can now genuinely say I cant remember buying something or how much I paid.

There are free versions of both available. Why not download them and try them? R-
Young at heart. Slightly older in other parts.
Re: SCARM v Anyrail
I very rarely use either but get on better with Scarm, except for flexi track which I just can't completely get the hang of.
Re: SCARM v Anyrail
I have a licensed version of AnyRail - I didn't re-license when ver 6 came out as they wanted more money and v5 did what I wanted it to do.
Before buying it I did try SCARM but found it less intuitive for me and my purpose than AnyRail.

I have only tried SCARM and as a total CAD Luddite I like it, I suppose it what you have used in the past and how good your CAD skills are, as said try them both for free, then decide.
Re: SCARM v Anyrail
I found Anyrail fairly easy to use, and downloaded the free trial version (50 pieces of track limit). This was then used to design my little 00 gauge loft layout 'Sproston' in 2012, using Peco code 100 flexi trak meant I could draw the entire layout and not exceed the track item limit. The design was closely based on one of CJ Freezers track plans in the booklet produced by Peco '60 Plans For Small Railways' . The main advantage of doing this was seeing if the geometry worked and if the plan fitted into the space available on the baseboard.
