Servicing OO Locos

Can anyone suggest a good, reliable OO Loco fixer I have a Flying Scotsman which could do with a service and a sick Duchess of Sutherland?

My father would also like his older OO trains to be updates to DCC.

Hopefully someone can recommend one. I've always done all repairs and servicing myself from an early age onwards, so have never actually noticed who does servicing.

Both locos are easy to repair, it depends on your budget also as you are interested in dcc aswell. I can recommend dale longton he does repairs and dcc and model doctor

Older locos are sometimes more difficult, or much, much, more difficult to do.

From what I have read, none are impossible. However, your father needs to consider many things before going down the DCC route such as the age of the locos and the track he wants to run them on. If they are older ones (as in very old) then they may not run easily over new points.

An 'Older' DC loco being considered for DCC conversion MUST run faultlessly on DC power with no hesitancy to start or poor general running. If any is present then it needs to be corrected before conversion is considered. If it can not be corrected then do not convert.. A poor DC performer will become far worse on DCC! Also worth doing on a DC loco is a normal running and stall current test to ensure the chosen decoder can cope with the motor load.
