BBC Breakfast - Flypast
Re: BBC Breakfast - Flypast
Tell me where in the rest of the world a chance meeting between two chaps in a park could result in such a spectacular event. This is what we Brits do well, a fly past arranged in a matter of about 8 weeks. I hope Tony gets a gong of some sort. R-

I agree, when you consider the pathetic reasons they dish out knighthoods this guy deserves a gong from the UK and USA.

There are an estimated 10 in flightworthy condition, but none have actually flown for many years.Tony House wrote: ↑Fri Feb 22, 2019 7:13 pm Hi
Like most have been watching this new item for some time over the last few months.
Watched the fly past on the box C47 followed by Hercules Air Tanker and new aircraft which can rotate its wing through 90 degrees, a heavy Air Tanker then 2 Typhoons and the 4 F15 Eagles.
Pity there was no B17 in the fly pass guess there are not many left flying.
well done to all that took part, make one think how many other memorials are scattered around the country.
All this was from one person walking their dog and talking to somebody. It makes you wonder what other stories are out there waiting to be told.

There are hundreds of memorials. There is a small garden centre near us and on the wall is a plaque remembering the crews of two Haifax bombers that collided on a training flight.

The Sally B has a busy UK schedule during 2019. I can only assume it might not be available at fairly short notice - maintenance in preparation for 2019 season?
According to "wiki" there are forty seven complete aircraft in the world, of which eleven are airworthy, and forty are in the US.

Totally agree; Anglo-American co-operation at its best!
Like others I've followed the story from the first report and it certainly makes a welcome change from all the depressing Brexit wrangling, Trumpisms etc. that have been the staple diet if our news programmes recently.
Have to admit that both Mrs Cheshire Lines and myself has moist eyes as we watched it. It was nice that relatives of the crew managed to come across for the event.

An excellent tribute to a tragedy. A tear to the eye unashamedly.
