Hornby turntable

I have been having problems with my Hornby TT. It stalls between track sections with the motor assuming the stall hum. Could be a problem with the gearing or something preventing movement. It also could be something to do with the temp cutout. Could someone tell me how to take this thing apart to check these items. If the centre screw releases it how is it lifted out? I have the underside supported and of course the track fixed above so it would be a bit of a pain if it releases this way.
On another point is the track powered from below? I have converted to DCC and removed the brass connections at both ends of the TT track. I am sure the track worked to allow loco onto the TT but doesn't seem to have power now.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I thought the TT track got power from the brass connectors you removed, or are they supposed to be removed when converted to DCC?

There are various ways to convert this TT to DCC, the Hornby official way which is not considered by many to be the best way and other ways that folk have devised and which have been described to death on the Hornby DCC forum.

Thanks RAF96 I have seen this on the Hornby forum. Looks as though I am not the only one to have this problem. What they don't say on the forum is how to take the thing apart to get to the gears etc. Advice on how to get into the motor and gearbox section would be appreciated.

I thought the part covering the motor etc. just unclippec.

Thanks WTD. I can get the operation hut off by just unclipping it but I need to get into the motor/gear section to check all is well. Does the "maroon" base just unclip as well?

WTD, thanks again.I will try this tomorrow. As the TT is not working well it won't matter if I break it (although it would be a pain if I did). If I can't get this thing off I think I will have no option than to take the TT out, along with all the mess of breaking into track already lain. Fingers crossed.

This is why I think it unclips so you can service the motor in situ.

Well I tried to get this thing apart. It did not budge. I pushed, pulled and prodded in every direction I could think of. Short of hitting it with a hammer and chisel I don't see any alternative other than taking it off the layout. If I don't get it to work I don't know if it will be good idea to replace it with the same model. Looked at a possible alternative. Will need to take out a mortgage if I go down this route. Boy, they are not cheap!
