Can anyone enlighten me ?
Can anyone enlighten me ?
Found this during my renovations,
The filament is encased inside the tube, it was buried deep in the ground, my thoughts are its a very early bulb, i cant remember seeing one like it before, any older members who can recall them ?

Looks like an ordinary bulb with the glass missing. The two metal rods inside the glass should extend past the end of the long piece of glass. The filament is attached to those an held in place by two more pieces of wire attached to the end of the long piece.
Nurse, the screens!
Re: Can anyone enlighten me ?
No Brian, its totally encased nothing broken off, the filament is intact. Light bulbs have been about since 1870s so i will keep researching.

The top edge of the bayonet connector looks as though there should be something in there, difficult to see from the angle the photo is taken from. Is there anything in there like glass or mastic? R-

And the Lord said unto John “Come forth and receive eternal life”, but John came fifth and won a toaster!

Will clean it up later Roger. WTDs could be on to something with the fuse idea, it looks like two fuse tubes inside the main stem.
Re: Can anyone enlighten me ?
The prize goes to WTD, he was right, its a double Ballotini fuse fitted inside not a filament. Cheers.
