Dapol Class 121 Issues

#1

Post by alexjhill1987 »

Hello,
Wondering if anyone else has any experience with the dapol 00 gauge class 121 bubble car?

I got mine brand new, and trying to run it in and the bogie derails when its going forward but in reverse it trails just fine, it appears to be catching on underframe detail, I did have to remove 2 bits of plastic which dapol kindly made removeable anyway so it works in one direction ok but the other is just a struggle.

If anyone can help please do, running it on DC, on 2nd radius, I have nothing else and when I make my shunting layout it will be negotiating small radius pointwork so I dont want this happenng all the time

It should be returned anyway. If you lift the loco up and look at it in mid-air one bogie will hang lower if broken.

someone put me onto a video on youtube about the 121, its tollerances for poorly laid track are shown in the bogies, it has to be so perfectly flat and not on much of a curve or its bogie will catch the edge.

Here is the photo of how close the bogie frame is, IE Touching.

I have lifted it up and it looks like the bogies are fine its just catching, which is what I have found above.

Turn the loco over in the running position but in the air, then take a picture please. This is one with both bogies mounts broken.
