Sorry for the delay. This is a scale drawing of the layout which was done to check things fitted in. Needless to say they didn't and there have been several changes, however the main running lines are as planned.

Thought I would nosey on over and take a look at your layout build since you had been checking out mine recently....... really interesting track layout and I love the concept of the figure of eight and the dual inclines / descents........ will be keen to see how this develops as you start to build out scenery etc.

Thanks for the comments Richard, progress has been much slower than I envisaged. I must stop standing there and just looking!

After a little hiccup with a short, the two main looped eight running lines are up and running. Next stage is to lift the engine shed yard (rhs upper level) and install all the point motors and conduits for yard lighting. Once that's done it's the installation of auxiliary bus wires for all these and then wiring up to, a yet to be built, control panel.

When that's done I can finally start the scenery, it will be the three running lines on the rhs lower level and the long retaining wall, hence the question to you about what you used. I'll post some images when there's visible progress.

Can you explain what you mean by "folded 8"

It might not be strictly accurate but the way it was explained to me is the layout is similar to a figure 8 with the top loop of the figure folded on top of the bottom loop. I've also heard it called a looped eight. In any case, to do one circuit of the layout you have to go round the shed twice. It makes for a longer continuous run. In the case of Neptune Street I've worked it out at approximately 18 meters.
