Hi Berryman - with your new track plan I would suggest moving the crossover at the bottom of your plan to the top and add another at the bottom going the other way. If you follow the usual UK convention of driving on the left then this allows an engine or train to cross over to the other loop without reversing. R-

A very good idea. Thanks. I'm working on it. I put a small heat sink on the back of the LM317 and a car bulb as cheap overload protection.

Next step: painting the track. Two ideas: Tamiya TS1 or Liquitex "raw sienna". All your advices are welcome.

Ahh. Thoughts about converting to 7mm narrow gauge? It is actually quite a liberating experience... FREEDOM comes to mind as you can really build your own little railway to your own design using your own little railway company with its own rules. You can see things you like and blend them in with your own plans.
If you require rough dimentions which you may need to build things then ask, though each one of us my have different widths and heights according to our own little railways needs. Buying a Peco 0-16.5 coach kit and assembling it with the side duckets will give an idea of the maximum width needed. In regards to height, I think I am going to add an extra bit of height as I can build one of my guards vans to have a lookout on the roof.

7mm narrow gauge does take a little time to make but there is no hurry. The great thing is that everything you make is consistant and is your own work so it is very special.

Make sure you put bit of masking tape over the point blades where you dont want paint spray to find its way and cause havoc.
