Just change the size of the passengers.
Actually, apart from the need to reduce the size a bit so it fits my loading gauge, I am slightly less suseptable to size differences in 0-16.5 then I would be in 00, as if I built two coaches the same but one was larger, then if I made them look different Somehow, it would be fine.

You automatically think your scratch build is the incorrect size because the bought model is different, but in my own experience putting 00 items next to each other even from the same manufacturer, but defiantly with different manufacturers can lead to obvious discepancies, if you measured it and checked it, there is every chance yours is good, just ensure they are not near each other on the layout
.
I have 00 vehicles from regularly used and trusted suppliers, and side beside I have two VW beetles which are horrendous, and need to be kept well apart from each other, both sold as 00 one of them has to be 'wrong' or one is better or....or who knows what I can fit both on the layout just not in the same photograph
.
Nice work on the scratch build by the way.

In this case we are talking O and OO gauges so the twain will never meet.

Apologies should have read the thread more carefully..
Then again...00 and O on the same layout, well in general I would admit that is not likely to work, but i like to be the devil's advocate, and we know that you can use different sizes to force perspective, so if the big one is on the smaller one photograph the bigger one close up for beautiful detail, if the small one is on the larger layout push it back to make the distance smaller. That said, my bad ref the thread.
