Why don’t they make all tank engines with enclosed cabs with a removable roof.

Ahh, I can answer that one. Because it makes it nigh on impossible to add crew

Exactly, I have always managed to get a crew in through the side opening but it takes ages.

Do I follow you correctly, TWD? A removable cab roof makes it harder to install the crew? On older models, of course, you'll be faced with a sitting tenant known as a motor.

Think TWD was saying the roof is fixed to make adding crew difficult. I have fitted crew without legs and even less before now to make them fit.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. It was also meant as a tongue in cheek comment. I too have also fitted drastically modified crew in such cases.Walkingthedog wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 5:45 pm Think TWD was saying the roof is fixed to make adding crew difficult. I have fed the crew through the side opening with a pair of tweezers only to drop it. Then have to fish it out before it glues itself upside down to the floor.

That one went well over my head. Must've been having particularly slow day.

Adding crew to a diesel locomotive requires the body to be physically removed, surely the same could apply to tank engines. Fitting passengers in to carriages, ditto.
