Yup the unwanted uncoupling when used in a siding would be a problem and could only really be over come by lowering them into the baseboard when not wanted. As a hump yard I would want it to work every time so not an issue.

Caiptean: yes the speed could be an issue, I think I would only aim to use a 3 way point and live with being able to sort into three sidings any more and I think you would need the central ones arriving at speed and the outer ones creeping in. However as for a vague idea of slowing them I did consider some more magnets, this time pulling on to the wagon as opposed to repel it.

Steve: thank you for the origin in this case the re coupling is achieved by the fact it is on a slight incline before it reaches the bigger incline (to accelerate to reach the sidings) but the opposing magnetic fields means that the tension comes off as the wagon is pushed over the magnets even though its going down hill

sometimes a little cheat is the best way to achieve the effect, similarly I could achieved the uncoupling by going over an uncoupling ramp it would just need to be long so that it prevented recoupling before gravity took over.
Ultimately all I want to be able to do is break a run of wagons so that I can break it up into sidings at this time I dont need individual uncoupling.

anyway todays tasks are to clean the track, tidy all the junk up and run in the HST should be enough for an afternoon

well, its been slow going with other projects taking some priority but as its getting dark earlier we need some extra lights, progress is also on hold a bit till we come to a decision about a house move.

The night piccies look fantastic. So realistic they could be mistaken for the real thing except they are not dirty enough :D . It would be a pity to weather the stations at all.

That is coming along nicely Chris. nice pictures as well. I must say though, when I did my last layout in the loft I found it very cold in the winter. But you have probably insulated it and solved that problem. Lovely layout in the making. John

thanks for the kind words, the street lamps could do with a little paint to limit the light to just shining down. it will be a pity to have to move it but will allow a redesign which is always a good thing
