Block signalling with the set distances between signals that is used today can throw up some strange signal locations which on a model would look very odd even if its prototypical. One example is at Beeston on the Nottingham-Trent Junction-Derby/Leicester line where there is a signal immediately before the platform leading to the seemingly strange sight of a passenger train stationary before it has reached the platform.
