Hi Brian i have found another Traffo and tried with this one, as soon as you apply the loco to the track it shoots off at full speed but i am unable to control the speed from the Traffo as it does absolutly nothing. Will try again with you suggestion and see what happens.

Now we are getting somewhere David, this is where a meter would be handy, how old are the Traffos.

Ok David, old controllers can be a nightmare and dangerous, i think you need to try another DC controller, the loco sounds ok.

Many thanks Brian, as i have the Flieschmann Dcc controller and power pack, and as i dont have another controller, would it be best for me to run my buss wire and droppers to covert it to Dcc as i really dont want to buy another dc controller, all of my other locos are already chipped, so would you think it would be a good idea to do this, or should i buy another Dcc system.

If your happy with the track for now just connect the Twin center up with the one track connector to test all is well ( the droppers and bus can been done after we have sorted this problem ).

Good morning Brian, looks like i will have to sort the track out as i have found a few dead spots so i am going to invest in a small track tester, find out whats wrong relay the track and then fix my buss wires to the baseboard, as i can tip it up so no crawling about. So as soon as all this happens i will repost and let you know what i have found. Many thanks once again.

The dead spots will be down to poor fishplates, the droppers and bus will sort that out. Good Luck.

Hi Brian have replaced some of the fishplates and I now have power to all of the track, unfortunatly the twin centre seems to have suffered from damp through being in the loft for many years, so I'm going to have to invest in a new dcc system. As my layout is only small 2ftx8ft with a double loop and train shed with two holding rails, im wondering which system I should choose, I have been looking at the Bachmann e z system as all I really want is to run trains and I certainly wont be running more than three at any one time the locos I have have got lights so need to be able to use those, so what do you think, I don't have a lot of money to spend so it has to be affordable which is why I'm looking at the E Z System.

David, your best investment right now would be a small portable digital multimeter Can be bought for about a fiver off eBay. For instance:-
