Many thanks for the welcome, chaps! (I assume it is probably all 'chaps' here). Et merci bien pour parler Francais, Ian. Je parle Francais pas mal pour un Anglais! Anyway, looking anxiously in the malbox each day for my new locos. The post is very delayed here at present, no doubt due to you-know-what. One question: way back when I did all this before - and we're talking nearly 40 years - Hornby points were considered inferior to Peco ones, and indeed I remember them looking rather shabby in comparison, there being a curious alloy used for the moveable bit which tarnished rather strangely. Is this still the case? If not are they ok or any cheaper than the Peco ones?

I think that there is an acceptance that Peco are superior. I use the much maligned (by some) insulfrog points and I believe that the dead frog is shorter than a hornby frog. But there again I may be wrong on both counts. I’m sure someone else will be along soon who has more experience than myself. P.S Welcome to the forum!

You are correct BM. Even the latest Hornby points have too much plastic on the frogs. They are far superior to the older versions though.
