I did the majority of my train spotting when I was a kid in the fifties at Hornsey Station just down the road from where I lived in North London and spent a lot of my time gazing at the shiny green and yellow racing cars in a yard next to the Station where Colin Chapman was building his Lotus machines. I had best of both worlds, Steam trains and racing cars.

I did my spotting from New Southgate - a couple of stops on from Hornsey Station. I was born in Muswell Hill and later moved to Friern Barnet - small world.

What a finish to a race! If there had been a crowd it would been a collective breath holding moment.

I started following F1 in the ‘60s (I can remember Moss’s accident at Goodwood in ‘62) and got to my first event in 1984. I’ve managed to attend an F1 meeting, race, practice, qualifying or test every year since then.
I was hoping/planning to get to the Portuguese GP in October but their website crashed and has stopped anyone getting tickets. But I’m starting to hear about a chance that they may return to this track in November as two of the proposed Far East races are looking doubtful

Never been to a Grand Prix, the nearest I have ever been to a race track was this year when I took this picture from the top of the marine hotel in Singapore. It was at the beginning of the year before lock down. It is on my bucket list so one day I will go to one.
