i have a stanley pair with red and yellow handles. They have a sort of a right angled piece, and a knurled nut for adjustment. Never moved the nut, and they do everything, from point wires (very thin), up to 3 core power cables. Had them for 25 years. Even the chrome, is still bright.

I was asked how I am getting on with the new wire strippers.

I have to say, brilliantly !!

Adjusted the gate for the decoder wires and to date I have not managed to cause any damage to any of the wirres.

Fantastic tool. :D

One happy chappy

Thank you Joe, I will add a pair to my Christmas "wish" list.

When I left school at the grand old age of 15 in 1963 ( I could have stayed on to take o and a level GCE but I was asked to leave as most of the teachers thought I was a bad influence on the other pupils, can’t think why) any way I started my working life in a small factory making electric light fittings as a sheet metal worker.
I first had to spend some time in the assembly department putting together and wiring up all manner of lights. I was given this pair of wire strippers and a few screw drivers to get on with the assembling. These strippers must have stripped thousands and thousands of wires during there lifetime as they were not new when they were given to me.
They even have 2b and 4b nut holes in the handles. They look a little sad now and need some TLC but they still strip wires with no effort after all these years.I did go on to become a sheet metal worker and loved every minute.

I strip wires using my front teeth. Works every time. Trouble is I tend to just spit the insulation out on the floor. Now that my layout has all the track in place I really must give that room a clean. It's beginning to look like a workshop/shed which is not ideal for a carpeted bedroom

Good way of doing it if you don’t think your teeth need any enamel. :D

I used to use my teeth but they are so chipped that I can’t get two bits to match close enough to strip insulation so it has to be the proper tool as reported earlier and jolly good it is too.
