Hi all.

So taking all the advice here into account, and from elsewhere, I have removed all of the excess lube from the chassis and axles with a dry cottonbud.

All seems fine now on the three locos I was having issues with!

I might dry the graphite powder though if I have future probs.

Thanks to one and all.

You might find that lubrication isn’t necessary.

I wouldn’t use granite - it’s a very good conductor of electricity. You’ll probably make them worse.

Although dropping a lump of granite on them may help. :o

Isn’t the fact that graphite is a good conductor the reason to use it. I thought split chassis locos used the axle to transmit power through the chassis to the motor.

I would be more worried about it bridging the insulation and causing shorts - not a problem if the OP uses the granite suggestion. :D

Yes of course the axle is split as well.
