Passenger trains often were rarely uniform so a rake assembled from both Hattons & Hornby 4/6 wheelers would be perfectly reflective of what actually occurred (assuming same liveries are available).
One of the reasons I've gone for the Hattons' ones is that their lit ones work straight off the tracks rather than an internal battery and a "wand" to switch them on/off.

I cannot imagine anything produced today under the Hornby Dublo branding will be 3-rail - certainly not in 00 gauge.

BB, agree it will be 2 rail, but it appears to have the 3 rail body, as again, they appear to still have the tooling.

Hornby have not said they are 2 rail, and have used 3 rail liveried boxes, so they must be 3 rail or Hornby would have said? I would expect they would have a skate device which is included in the box so one can easily adapt them for either? If not then it is not very good on behalf of Hornby marketing techniques to "Assume" people know what Hornby are doing when they re-launch old Dublo brand which were previously associated with 3 rail in the blue boxes and 2 rail in red boxes. It needs to be made clear, or those who go to buy them for their 3 rail layouts are going to be rather dissapointed, and those with 2 rail layouts may be put off buying assuming that they are 3 rail.

SK says that last year Hornby "re-introduced the brand name Hornby Dublo" - these locomotives are all DCC Ready and will take an 8-pin decoder. It also says on the box "2-Rail" - So will not be 3-rail. These loco's are also limited to 500 of each model.

These are new tooling John - Hornby (Dublo) never made a Merchant Navy back in the day - they left it to Wrenn. Barry

Would expect the HD MN is the diecast body on the existing Hornby MN chassis - the tender is plastic so no doubt the existing MN tender or a variation of it. Due June apparently.
