I watched the one about the Bachmann 9F which he said mechanically was rubbish, the two I had ran like a dream.

With the O gauge Heljan Class 05 diesel he seemed to make a big thing about it being mounted in a wooden plinth and that was probably why it was expensive. All O gauge locos are mounted on a plinth and are expensive (£190?????) because they are bigger.

He did say he didn't know if it was a rogue one or typical.

Maybe so but the title "worst mechanism of the year?" is a little over the top don’t you think.

The title maybe OTT, but it's there to attract views. He earns quite a bit from YouTube videos, so he's got to attract views. I think all (or many) reviews (no matter who by) are atypical. Very rarely will every loco be perfect, or broken. Some have design flaws but what are seen by some as flaws make little difference to others.

Fair enough Ian, I just think it should be stated that it is just his view. Somebody without any knowledge could be misled. I still wish he would not use the carpeted floor as his work bench. :)

He has gone on record more than once to say that its not the recommended way of running things, but it suits his situation and he's happy with that decision.

It’s just bad practice, not a good thing for a newbie to see.

Each to their own.

You all still watching him!
I gave up watching him a while ago, another youtuber that waffles too much and equally doesn't know much.

I dip in very occasionally to see if it has improved.

Ah, the eternal optimist - always disappointed.
