Quite right Roger. The cost of travelling to Margate for most of us would soon outweigh any potential savings.

True it won’t be suitable to all, but it may help some of the crusty old bu§§ers that live down this way. :D

It’s a bit of a jaunt for us but we do visit the area quite often anyway. And here’s a tip for anyone that happens to be in the area - Peter’s Fish Factory at Ramsgate Harbour does the best fish supper south of Whitby.

A little money saving tip.
Having decided which pre-orders I wanted to make, I selected the first one and found that although I will pay full price for it, Hornby have said they will send me a 12.5% discount voucher for my next order. Of course I will wait until I get the discount code before ordering the second loco. ;)

I wonder if one were to order a loco to get the voucher, then cancelled that order after applying the discount to a new order, whether it would still go through at the discounted price?
I couldn’t possibly condone such abhorrent behaviour.

The gamble is whether the voucher is sent before the desired loco is sold out or suffers another price increase. :o

Guess what I just spotted at the back of the catalogue.

They kept that quiet - haven’t even seen any comment on the Hornby forum.

For any club members in the Kent area:

Hornby have reinstated all the member discounts they discontinued a few years ago.

I have not tried it - but it worked once before, if I cancel a pre-order and then re-order, will I get the 10% discount?
It will need some sums doing  as many of the loco's have increased in price since the time of ordering.

NOTE: Have done sums - if you pre-ordered when product was announced you are better off with the original pre-order price.
