No - a slow motion motor requires a current supply longer than the short sharp snap that a CDU supplies which is perfect for a potentially reluctant solenoid. Many have a built in current switch off allowing for the use of a switch that always has a powered output as oppossed the passing contatct type a solenoid uses. I presume the module DCC Concepts supply with the Colbat SS on non DCC systems provides the neccessary length of supply regardless of the actual control switch used.

They work for me which is good. After I've completed the second of my staging yards I need to take a look at Wilf's Junction which is dedicated to my late Dad. That will require use of distant rodding which will be interesting.

But so far it's going very well. Plug and play

DCC Concepts SS point motors are as stated 4 wire Stepper Motors. These are operated from a dedicated motor control module which has two separate motor outputs. Each output is capable of operating three SS motors simultaneously via their adaptor/splitter board. The module can be feed from a DCC supply or via a regulated 11 to 23 volt DC power source. The Stepper motors are operated by either DCC addresses or from Momentary press to make push buttons or sprung to center Off switches. Control of Stepper motor travel is via adjustable trim pots on the module. LED panel light indication connections are also provided on the module.
From reports I have read the SS Stepper motors are not overly powerful, unlike a Servo motor or Solinoid motor!

A CDU (Capacitor Discharge Unit) is only ever used with Solinoid point motors.
